Exclamation 1993 Mercedes 308d

Hi All,

My 1993 mercedes 308d van's brake sensor light stays on all the time. One mechanic checked my brakes and they are in good condition. He disconnected the brake sensors to see if that turned off the light but no joy. The light also flickers when the van is moving and occassionally goes off only to come back on again and flicker. Someone suggested the handbrake button/switch may be the problem but he can't find it on the mechanism. Does anyone know where the switch is located or any other advice on the problem?

Many thanks,
Wayne

Check the brake fluid level. This control lamp also indicates low brake fluid level.

Question

Did you checked wiring for a short-circuit?

Didn't check for short circuits yet. trying to rule out every other less expensive possibilities before i have to pay an auto-electrician to check and resolve a possible short circuit. It may come to that yet. Do you know if the handbrake has a switch connected to the sensor light and where it is located?

Thanks, w.

The handbrake doesn't have a switch and control lamp.

Ok Thanks, that rules that out then.
I have the national vehicle road test next week and am worried it may not pass because of this. may have to take the bulb out in the meantime.
