Your advice on '02 C230 for sale

Any thoughts on possible cost and issues involved in this C230 for sale?

2002 Mercedes C230 Kompressor-FIRM! - $1800

condition: excellent
fuel: gas
paint color: silver
title status: clean
transmission: automatic
type: coupe

This is a MUST SEE! Engine runs, BUT, there is an oxygen sensor issue, or possible solenoid. In "Safe Mode" now, and Priced so that the buyer may use this discount towards repair. AGAIN, please note the previous. Common Sense! Value is 3,800.00 , AGAIN, we have discounted for any repairs!!!! Do not waste each others' time. Beautiful condition.

Looks almost brand new, well-kept and maintained. 140k. This vehicle NEVER goes out of STYLE! New tires. ($700 paid)
No accidents. Clean Title. Rust-Free.

Selling to purchase a work truck. :.(

Could be as little as 200 bucks to fix the transmission conductor plate and trans service if you fix it yourself. Or 2k for a trans. If your planning on working on it yourself its a good deal..paying someone else and not so much.

Check engine light could be anything and rarely it it just a "bad O2" sensor.

Chances are the guy knows a general idea if what is wrong with it and is trying to punt it.

"Safe Mode" sounds like limp home mode. I would be very cautious with this Mercedes. To me it sounds like it is going to be expensive to repair. An oxygen sensor has to be about $100 or so. A few minutes to change it and he could sell the car for $2000 more......
