w210 road trip?

not really that old, it's the '98 e430 in my signature with around 209,000 miles.

thinking of a road trip to the 4 corners region, about 1,000 miles from san jose.

it's been a very reliable car and is reasonably caught up on maintenance, most of which i do myself. couple items i might replace as preventative are the serpentine belt (looks great but, does have about 75k) and the crankshaft position sensor.

i'm thinking of renting a car for this. will save around $100 in fuel (35+ mpg vs 25-30 mpg) and cost around $300.

what say you?
