Priming new in-line fuel filter.
Ok, new to the forums and I'm glad because I need some help. In more ways than one I'm sure, but here goes: It's taken me about two days to determine that my 1987 Benz 300D Turbo does NOT have a hand primer fuel pump to help facilitate the bleeding/priming procedures.
I just finished replacing the primary filter, as well as the in-line secondary filter...but of course the in-line filter comes new as a closed unit. So...without a hand primer pump to bring fuel from the tank into this filter, how do I do it?
I haven't found an explanation or video yet that addresses this issue. Also I really don't want to just start cranking the engine and risk damaging the starter and/or draining my brand new battery.
Although this is my first Mercedes, I've had it for over 12 years and have normally had a shop do the standard services. I've been out of work for a couple of months and thought I could do some inexpensive things at home. Here we are. I'd appreciate all your input. Thanks much.
