Question Considering 550 or 450 gl or 350 for towing.

Hello, We brand new to Mercedes. We drove a 550 gl the ride was and great seats for my bad back. My thoughts are reliabilty and repairs which is best for the least amount. We have a young child and don't want to be stuck on the road. I was thinking the diesal.
Can you give me advice as far as used and reliability ? I have read forums on edmunds and seem like maybe it is not great to buy. Before I give up the idea I want give it a fair shot. We really want the mercedes. I want it for safety and the seats. It drives like a dream. How many miles will the diesal run?

I had several volvo's some people complain about them and we have had great service and great luck with them. I really don't want to just buy a average expedition or cadillac with not great seats for my back. I have read people getting stuck and having many issues and I cannot be sitting on the side of the road with a child and having both my trailer and suv towed. It will be used to run my kids to school everyday or his suv for work. Thanks ahead for any information.

Most road side breakdowns are caused by the owner/driver failing to maintain their vehicles. Recognizing this, your entry choice to Mercedes becomes one of budget and personal choice. If you buy used it's critical you get prior safety records (see sentence number 1). Another adage often quoted is a "cheap" Mercedes is rarely a deal (see sentences 1 and 3).
