So take this with a grain of salt. I looked around for the cheapest ARNOTT seller because....im cheap. i found partsgeek was the cheapest by about $100.00 which to me is a significant savings over the others. I searched reviews of partsgeek.com and a number of you have had no problems, while a few have had some issues with them. Looking in the general internet it seems even more have had issues.
I am in the market for the ARNOTT air strut as2294 for my 04 e500 4matic sedan. and ARNOTT is out of stock and have over 250 back orders. I was looking for a fast 'in stock' option and partsgeek shows that they have 3 in stock.
i originally opted to go w/ ARNOTT because every time i tried to call partsgeek, they did not answer for the whole of the day. This concerned me and my wife urges me to go w/ quality rather than the cheap in certain instances. Well, i ordered from ARNOTT only to get a call shortly after that they won't have the strut in stock for an unforeseen amount of time.
i decided to go w/ partsgeek but something bugged me. i ended up calling ARNOTT and I asked about partsgeek if they were an authorized seller...they are not. 'we don't know where they are getting our products' as per ARNOTT.
I need a strut and want it quick. i was assured from my credit card company that if they if in fact are fake or sending wrong products, or whatever, as long as i returned the item that i would be reimbursed by my credit card company. so i was going to go with partsgeek on a CHANCE.
then i got to the part about warranty. i saw that partsgeek offers different options for warranty, while ARNOTT has a lifetime warranty on their product. calls to partsgeek went again unanswered for the whole of another day. I called ARNOTT for the 10th time today and was informed again that partsgeek is not an authorized seller and that the lifetime warranty does not apply to their products. only the partsgeek warranty offered applies to an ARNOTT product purchased through them. partsgeek offers a free 1 year warranty and a paid warranty up to about 3 or 4 years i believe.
moral of the story is i listened to my wife and went w/ ARNOTT themselves and am going to send them my strut to check and rebuild if possible....with an official lifetime warranty. oh and i used the benzworld.org arnott coupon
460 after core!
oh...and thanks to my wife
