Best battery brands?

Hey Yall,

My car battery is dead and I hate dealing with the dealers because they are all franchised and full of themselves. Does anyone have any thoughts on the best battery brand or specific type for a 2000 E320-base?
Any thoughts would be great! Thanks!

Aside from Bosch, Interstate offers long lasting batteries.

I have personal experience of the 84 mo battery for the W123/W124 diesels that Les Schwab sells, it's big, powerful and long lasting:

In 1 case, a 9 y.o. battery was still going strong with no problems when I got nervous and bought a replacement before Winter.

Also, I recently bought a 240D parts car that had been sitting in a barn for 3 years. It had one (dated 2008) that appeared to be totally dead. I put it on a trickle charger for a day and still dead, so left it hooked up then got side tracked doing plumbing on our home. About a week later I noticed the charger showing a green light and the battery was fully charged. I ran it for a while in my D.D. 240D with no problems, so now keep it as a spare. Price was reasonable and they only charge $10 to test your charging system and do the install. Don

Since you haven't told us where you are, that kind of changes things. Posting your geographic area will help the recommendations.

I will say that no one has ever complained about the quality of the batteries at the dealers. Call and get a price, then if the price is fair go get it and change it yourself. They'll tack on a ton for labor and other nonsense if you let them change it.

Good luck.
