I have spent (probably way too much time) on various diesel forums. People swear by everything from 2 stroke, tranny fluid, VMO, filtered WMO (also as a fuel stretcher, sometimes in amazingly large ratios). Marvel Mystery oil is another popular one.
I always wind up wondering if something is not going to foul the nozzles, will it eat at the seals?
In that sense, the clean 30W you add probably won't do much harm.
Whenever I feel the urge to add something to my fuel, it is usually one of various winter anti gel treatments, almost all of which claim to add lubricity and a centane booster. To add the stuff all the time to all my diesels would be a considerable added expense, which I hesitate to incur without stronger proof of benifit than the label claims on the products' bottle.
Would be interested to see any other real studies of performance-maintenance additives.
