Towbar questions.

Hi all. I live in Australia and currently own a 2001 ml320. I recently ordered an OEM towbar kit from a dismantler. However it oh came with centre part that has 4 bolts to bolt it to the reo bar. And the hitch.

When I called to enquire about the "L" shaped bracket that bolts to the chassy and the reo bar, the guys tried to tell me that they never came out with a bracket??? Are they required? Or for older models only?? Thanks in advance

You do need bumper reinforcement pieces and good one.
Factory brackets have long screws that go on other side of the bumper reinforcement tube.
Aftermarket bolts only on inner side and I had heavy load flexed the tube.
Obviously for bike rack or 1000 kg trailer you can go without them, but better to have it done right.
