1999 430 key mystery

My 430's panic alarm goes off randomly. I thought it was key related, put in new batteries to no avail. the keys will stop the alarm and for a while leaving one key in the ignition and locking the car with the second key seemed to stop the problem. Not sure that is working. Then I disconnect the battery to avoid the wrath of the neighbors. The radio then requires it's code (I mention that since someone said not being coded might be an issue). Before I take it to the dealer I thought I would ask the community for help. Thanks, Jim Gurney

While Noodles is spot on about providing correct vehicle information (and heck, may as well posit your question in the forum specific to your vehicle, too) at first blush I would say that the problem is likely to be that the battery in the siren is failing. The fix is to replace it, and it's not terribly expensive. However, the battery is built into the siren, I don't know if you could find a replacement just for the battery.

So where is the siren, you might ask? Ah, that depends on the year and model of your "430." (Subscribing to the EPC is free if you're in the US, and then you can look up parts and see diagrams of where to find things...)

Good luck.
