Love my Mercedes - poetry in motion...
Boy you gotta love the Mercedes Benz Forms!! You guys have saved me so much money on diagnostics, its like having your own mechanic shop in my living room. As a fellow gear head its quite fun and rewarding working on cars, figuring out the problems, fix them and save a ton of cash. Only a gear head could love that! I just purchase a beautiful 99 E430, The thing looks and drives like a brand new car! Just couldn't believe how immaculate it was when I got it. However a few issues here and there that needed addressing;
1st issue: Lighter fuse out - Check the forum for location answers - Knock it out in seconds with a new fuse.
2nd issue: Funky smell emitting from the dash vents (smelled like vinegar and old crusty cheese feet) Check the forum for answers.
Was directed to a Youtube Video that showed the locations of both cabin fresh air filters that needed replacing.
Knock it out by replacing the 2 top filters behind the glove box and the 2 Charcoal filters under the dash. Plus cleaning the intake vent under the hood. Now It smells like "lilies of the fields" and sun kissed gardenias! You don't even want to get out of the car its that nice.
Well that was it! This car was a blessing from God!! 148,345 on the clock - Rides like a limo - Just the right amount of power from Mercedes trusty V8 to get the job done when needed.
The year of the car is 1999 - the unmolested version. Mercedes Benz and Chrysler got in bed with the merger in 1998 and basically destroyed the quality on a few models with their platform and parts sharing. This bad boy is built like a tank "old school" style. Any time these cars are used for duty as a taxi cab or police version its built to last.
I love my Mercedes E430
