Am I Crazy to Consider a 2004 500CL?

I found a 2004 500CL with under 40K miles for under $14K. Am I nuts to even consider this?

It's a beautiful car, thinking of getting it as a weekend driver. Any advice is really appreciated.

My current Kompressor has 220K and still running strong. Just want something bigger for cruising around.

They are cheap these days. Great cars, very comfortable and the styling IMO is getting better with age. Colors seem to play an interesting role on price.

The 2003+ are the ones to get, with 2006 being the most desirable. Lots of threads around here on common issues, with the air suspension being the largest. l would at a minimum keep $4,500 in reserves for when the Airmatic (non-sport package cars), or ABC (AMG sport package cars) goes. The general consensus is anywhere between 60k and 80k miles.

WTH if you like the car, can afford it and recognize the potential suspension issues, go for it. Life's too short
