That's what makes it right, compromising. Whatever the rule, the golden rule is that everyone who thinks 5k or 10k or 7500k is the golden rule. Whatever you feel comfortable with. Every car has it's little special feel and a good driver will know when it's time to get some knock taken care of. Good motoring, as long as safety is never compromised!

Just wanted to be the first to step up and answer your question.

I check the oil level on the stick every 2,000 miles.

I do not rely on the instrument cluster.

My '07 E350 has around 83,000 miles now and I have to add little to no only between oil changes.

So to clarify:

1) 2008 E350 does not tell you when to ADD oil by some indicator on the panel. true/false?
2) 2008 E350 does tell you when to CHANGE oil by some indicator on the panel. true/false?

1. It tells you to add oil, if it gets too low.

2. It tells you when you need to change it.

All info can be found (surprisingly enough) in your owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can download it.

Certainly, since my '99 E320 tells me both, in the display, to add oil if I need to, and, to change it at 10k miles, a newer E350 should do the same. I have always gone by the FSS (Flexible Service System) that displays when oil change is needed, about every 10k miles. Have always used Mobil 1, 0-40 MB approved oil. Just about to pass 200k miles on the car. Must be doing it right!

I hear Ya! It's basically gained knowledge over the years and talking with the mechanics that will be doing the servicing on your vehicle. I also slip a 20 or 40$ spot. (Before the work is performed) I think you have seen it for yourself. I take mileage data with the on board computer and have fun! Because I live in the Laurentians in Quebec, CA. the topical location is mountainous and a 4x4 is absolutely necessary. My wife works at the top of a mountain at a resort and I have left many unfortunate people trying and trying to get up the hill (this hill is at an extreme steep gradient. I actually would go too say that it is very dangerous! They can't make it up and eventually give up until, several calls to the municipality later, the salt truck will try and make it up the hill itself!
Congrats on you vehicle inventory. I got mine in late November and I have really had it with the winter. Some of the best moments or selfish moments and of which is a valid reason, to go in the garage and wash the car. Hell, I am a freak for keeping my carpets in the car spotless. Thanks for your reply and I look forward to talking with you soon again! Warmest Regards! Ken
