SRS/airbag off

I've read other posts about the intermittent srs/airbag off lights. This is now happening to my 2001 ML430. Lights stay on now all the time. Started off intermittent. Now am I the only one who feels this is a safety issue. It's not like your ac pump failing, even if the car is 14 years old, don't you this that Mercedes Benz should do the honorable thing and admit that a faulty sensor is to blame and to offer a modifie sensor with instructions how to replace the old one so that you can to it yourself or take it to a qualified mechanic. Hell, even GM did that for the ignition problem that the knew about for 12 years. I say everyone who is experiencing this issue should petition MB to offer these kits for free and the owner is responsible for labor costs. Anybody in agreement?

This issue has come up before and airbags from MB actually have an expiration date.
That is not is why your light is on.

MB will not provide the parts for for everyone. A dealer on a case by case basis my get you goodwill to fix it.

The first thing is to find a shop that does not charge a fortune to read the SRS code. There are different reasons it could have a fault. I have seen it be a pinched/broken wire all the to the occupancy sensor in the seat or even a bad seat belt latch.
