Transmission sometimes does not engage

I changed the transmission fluid hoping the problem will be fixed but that was not the case. The transmission still getting stock on second and third gear and maybe the first, what would i know. It happens when stepping on gas paddle to the floor. It SOMETIMES fixes the problem when shifting to neutral and back to drive. The car drives fine when the mechanic drove it real slow. There are no code in the Mfd. Many people say the transmission is bad and need a new one. Is there a way to know for fact that i need to replace the transmission and is there anything else can cause the problem on transmission that has 97k.

If you have not used SDS/equivalent to clear codes from the TCU, it is never going to work properly.

Before you do that, though, check the TCU for signs of fluid incursion and clean all of that up. And change the pilot bushing/harness adapter, too.

And, of course, you should also perform the adaptive reset procedure.

Reading through the 722.6xx FAQ thread in the W210 forum help/DIY stickies will give you a broader understanding of it all as well.

Good luck.
