When I was about your age, my taste in cars included mostly British sports cars and American muscle cars. Although I'm still attracted to both those types of cars, my preferences have slowly evolved to more upscale cars with more luxury features, and comfort/ride is now the premium feature I look for.
The wife had a C Class and liked it. I didn't; too small and uncomfortable! My son and DIL have a C Class and like it. I like the styling, but still find it too small and uncomfortable.
When I purchased the E Class last fall, it was difficult to let my Lexus go because it was fully featured and Sooo damned comfortable, but I had an itch to get the E so I did. The M-B isn't as comfortable as the Lexus, but it's heavy, solid (almost tank-like), and was a change of pace with lots of nice features, but frankly, I'm happy the wife decided to sell her car and keep the Lexus so I can still drive it.
Everyone has their own preferences in cars when it comes to size, type, style, features, etc., and in the end, P_R, you're the only one who can decide what's best for you. All the research and consultation and recommendations of others in the world doesn't replace the way the car makes you fell when you're behind the wheel! Good luck.
When out on the road, it's always best to watch out for Pot holes, Sink holes, and those other Holes!
