This fear may be unfounded, but I fear that only a device which connects to the 38-pin MB-1 type connector in the engine compartment fuse box is going to be capable of resetting my transmission control module. The EGS/TCM data output has a specific pin (number 10) within this large round cannon plug connector.
I just know that what little info I CAN find about how to clear this limp mode from my transmission leads me to diagnostic systems that cost well over $1,000. :-/
I'm just furious/stressed/depressed I have to be towed so far for what appears to take 5 minutes to accomplish. I've only had this car a couple of months but had fallen completely in love with it.
Edit: thank you guys so much for sharing, I really appreciate it. This forum is filled with some pretty awesome folks. I worked on avionics for the USAF, and am very experienced mechanically and in electronics systems. I like doing things like this myself, but I'd have to do > 10 of these jobs to justify the expense of something like Star Diagnostics.
