should I buy w203? 05 w 86k. reliable?

I'm going to test drive and possibly buy a 2005 cclass today. Its a kompressor sport. 86k w rebuilt title. Now the owner says it has rebuilt title because vehicle was a theft recovery and interior was cut w box cutter but since repaired. So I'm hoping an accident really was not the case.
That being said, w the mileage and year of this car, is it a good car to own? Too expensive? Ive always liked the the body style and been a fan of MB forever.

I would buy it. My only concern would be if it has the 7 speed transmission. The early production of the 7 speed had some issues.

The 5 speed transmissions were bullet proof.

You can use a vin decoder to see which transmission that one has.

You can use MercedesMedic.com/decode to check.

Just pop in the W203 section to see what's going on in there. We bought a 2005 C230K SS for our daughter 3.5 years ago and it's been great. No issues other than regular maintenance. Bought it from the second owner and came with all maintenance records.

As usual, a proper pre-purchase inspection is strongly recommended. Especially if you are not too familiar with these things. I have never bought a car with a salvage title and never will. Just a theft recovery or not. Just a personal preference.

No 2005 W203s in the US came with the 7 speed.

Good luck.
