VIN vs. FIN?

Hello to all MB lovers here,

I am new to this board and have already found a load of information here.

What I am now trying to check out are the exact specifications of my cars. And for this it seems I need the VIN code. But my German papers only show a 17-digit FIN code, FIN for "Fahrzeug-Identifizierungs-Nummer" which seems not to be the same as the VIN. Can someone please tell me where to find this VIN or give me a hint me how to recode FIN into VIN?

Cheers
Mike

On the euro-spec vehicles FIN = VIN.

Dr. Sternschnuppe, thanks for your answer. Problem ist, all the links i have found don't seem to accept the Euro-spec based FIN entry, they tell me "Invalid Data"

Either you have made a mistake when reading the FIN/VIN from the car or from the documents or indeed it is an invalid VIN. An invalid VIN would be a really rare case. We could help if you posted the VIN code or if you PM it to some of us for further checking (if you prefer not to make it public).

Thanks, Diesel, for your offer.

This is the FIN/VIN I try to check:

WDB2094421T027255

I already tried the Zeroes against capital O but to no effect.

Hi Mike - a nicely specced car you have there.

I hope you join us W209 CLK owners on our own forum sometime if you have car questions...

Thanks, keyhole, for your answer.

There is a CLK-specific board here in Germany called "clk-forum.com" I am already participating in. If you post the link to the forum you are talking about, I would love to join it as well.
