How does STAR/XENTRY communicate with a non-CAN controller?
I've retrofitted a DAB (US: Satellite radio) to my R172 (SLK 2012). The thing won't work whilst everything checks out OK. The DAB has only three wires (power, ground, MOST wakeup), two MOST opticals and one antenna plug connected to it. All are functioning but still the head unit (NTG4.5 Comand) states that the DAB isn't available. I did switch the option on through the engineering menu so the option is available from the screen to be selected, I just get the message that it isn't available after selecting it.
Xentry states that it can't deal with DAB because it doesn't have the appropriate software available, but I'm very curious how Xentry would call this control module since there are no CAN wires attached to it. Will Xentry use the MOST opticals to find out if the DAB is there and what it can/cannot do?
Is there something else that I need to do?
For now I looped the two opticals to at least have a closed MOST ring and now I'm stuck.
