17 year old first car must be a merc

Okay so im 16 now and am starting to think about my first actual car i own two classic minis and a w202 but for my first car that i will legally drive i want something with a bit more class ideally id love a metallic blue clk convertible But insurance would be impossible t be honest ive got my heart stuck between a e class sedan or estate or a vito what seem a bit odd what would be better on. Insurance and would a diesel be any cheeper on insurance if both of them would. Be expensive then what would be cheep on insurance for a 17 year old

They key really is going to be the insurance being in the UK you know how insane the prices are for young drivers.
I do believe an E class with a smaller petrol or diesel engine will save you thousands a year for insurance. A V-8 version will be very expensive to insure. You are also correct that a sports coupe version is more costly. Especially if you were to go with a CLK 430.

I learned to drive in England. I remember the horror of the insurance and know they are worse now 34 years later. I paid more back then for a Ford Escort FS2000 Mexico Rally edition than I do now for for my E500 estate. I loved the red "L" sticker on the back of the car as a warning to all others there was a newbie on the road.

I can only applause the drive.
Years ago, while being in college my oldest son drove Mitsubishi 3000, what is sport car.
I offered him W124 diesel, but he denied saying "Mercedes is for old people" .
Yet, coming home for Christmas and planning to meet his friends he ask me to borrow diesel as his sport car burn too much fuel.
I agree on asking to fill up.
The following Sunday we are leaving to church and I see fuel gauge 1/2 full.
I ask my son why he did not fill the car up as we agree.
He's answer was
"I did"
He did it before taking off with friends Saturday night. The car was making over 500 miles on the tank.
I did not spend too much time to compare insurance rates, but my youngest one, being 21 paid about $700 annual premium high liability on E300DT, what I think is pretty good.

It could run him or as an addition to his family's policy up to $4500 per year or more for a 15 year old ML or E class. And that is if it is garage kept at home.

I used a website called Money Super Market in the UK for quotes based a vehicle with a value of $3200.

Out of idle curiosity, when did you do all that hard work if you're only 16? Or did you slave in the sweatshops of India? Just kidding. Why not fix up the 202, plenty classy when in good condition, and insurance should be manageable.
