Question about steering "glitch" in A140 (2003)

Hello ,
i am an owner of a Mercedes A140 (2003) model.
The past days my power steering seemed to glitch for like 1 second when in low speed (20-40kms/h) on turning left or right (it is like loosing its hydraulicicity for 1 second) and then returns to normal. I added a proper hydraulic oil ammount as it seemed to be missing 1cm drove for 20-30mins, but still it happened again 2-3 times when i got back home and was parking the car. My father and his technician seem to be convinced that the "plate" (dunno what that is exactly , he told me its an electric plate near the "brain") is faulting because of humidity corruption. He told me it costs about 350e from a guy we know and it will be like 50e for the installation. My question is if that is indeed the most like problem or we should check something else first.

Thank you for your time.
