Apologies if this post is duplicated, disappeared on me as I was writing it.
Ordered and received new Transmission Filter Kit recently and discovered after dropping the fluid pan that the new gasket was different construction to the existing one - new one was totally rubber and had ridging all around as though it fitted on to an edge, whereas the existing one was FLAT and made of a combination of metal (copper coloured) and thin rubber seal all around. Tried to fit the new gasket on to the pan edge, but just not possible - did not try fitting the rubber gasket up on to the metal edging of the transmission body first and then bolting the pan up on to it, which I maybe should have done. Have reused the old gasket as it was in good condition and I understand MB say this can be done if gasket undamaged. Will keep the new gasket for next time, but would appreciate input from any member as to how I can fit the new gasket in due course, Thanks, Nick
