We decided to do a little demonstration of the Bridgestone Blizzak WS80 on the W203. The car is rear-wheel drive (I don't think they made a 4matic coupe) and 6-speed manual. This review is for the Blizzak WS80 specifically, however there are other great snow tires on the market which will allow your rwd car the same freedom in snow.
On Dry Pavement
They are fantastic. Unlike a studded tire, there doesn't seem to be any more noise or vibration than any other all-season tire. You can drive 80+ mph on the highway without a problem. You do lose a little grip, so these are not designed for sporty driving.
In The Snow
They are equally competent. This C203 is lowered and has lots of aftermarket suspension components for high-performance driving. Despite this, the car never got stuck, never grounded out, and kept us out of trouble (although some hooning did occur
Disclaimer: Know your car and its limits. We are not saying that you can drive 60 mph on icy roads without the slightest care for safety. Check your local weather conditions before driving in heavy snow to make sure that it's safe. Take plowed routes when possible.
If you drive a rwd Mercedes and live in an area with snowy winter conditions, this is a pretty sweet tire.
