W140 s600 and early w220 s600

I was reading up on these two models and the 1999 and 600 Mercedes-Benz has roughly 389 hp. The early as 600 the W220 has only 362 hp from a 5.8 L V 12. Does anyone else think this is weird? That the previous generation model had more horsepower!it almost seems like a rip off you may as well just get a W140 and 600 instead of getting the W220 600. And on top of that the W-2 20 has cylinder deactivation which was a huge failure in those early models. I mean Mercedes couldn't even make the new W220 600 at least 440 hp?

No worries, Noodles, takes more than he's got to insult me. Besides, I doubt he started shaving yet.

Polish wisdom, but I think it applies to some egos here. It is OK if you don't understand
Egos aside, it takes lot of factors to make good car.
Lately I run into video comparing Viper with MB SLS black series.
Viper has more HP, is 300 lb lighter, beats MB with torque by a mile, wins 1/4 mile run, yet it is slower on race track.
Long video, but I found it interesting.

I've seen that video! The amg is agile and lighter! Power isn't everything at a racetrack! And the whole reason for this post was just an interesting to see the way mercedes basically dropped the ball when they merged with Chrysler! Early w220 models where the worst for reliability and electric issues!

You are bashing certain MB model giving it more conclusions that I think really apply here.
Some people say the Alabama assembled MB are junk. I happen to have one of them and having it in family for 13 years it was the most reliable car ever. ($350 in failed parts over 13 years)
Can't answer how much Chrysler merge played in different models quality, but we are living in times when technology changes on weekly basis and new ideas are not always 100% success.
Global economy has it own bad wrap, but I visited Germany 30 years ago and know that lot of vehicles in Germany were assembled by Turkish, Ukrainians, Polish and other immigrants.
It is not who turns the bolts that matter in final outcome, but who inspects the quality.
