300D 1985 leaking ignition vacuum

Finally I have been able to get the transmission to shift properly and smooth. I had a tool that would pump vacuum and I could determine where the vacuum was leaking. With the ignition off the vacuum on the brown tube coming from the ignition will hold vacuum, with the ignition on it will not. The other brown tube that goes to the shut down vacuum control on the fuel pump will hold vacuum both with ignition off and on. The car would not shut down immediately when the key was turned off which makes sense now that I see that when the key goes off and the tube stops leaking vacuum it will build vacuum and shut down the fuel pump, but when the key is on it leaks vacuum and the Vacuum Control Valve gets no vacuum so shifting is hard and late. So, that says to me that the vacuum portion of the ignition is faulty. Does anyone know if that can be repaired or does the ignition have to be replaced?

Its been few years since I drove that model, but from I remember the vacuum switch is separate part in the ignition.
Meaning hopefully it can be bought as separate part, although MBUSA is making buying small parts impossible lately.
Check W123 section for advice from fellow model owners.

Thank you Kajtek1 for the reply. I have read lots of posts on the Benzworld forums, but I have never posted until today. Can you tell me how to get to the W123 section. I tried to find that section to put this post but could not and could not figure it out in the help section either. Should I repost the same post in the w123 section?

There are several options how to jump the forum.
Depends on the skin, you will find the forum jump on the top or closer to the bottom. Put a cursor on it and it will open the menu with sections. Click on W123 and it will take you there.
Other way is to open forum main page and that will show sections.
With some wait, moderator will move this topic to W123.
Good luck on the repair.
