2010+ Key Disassembly

Hello all-
I have a well worn 2010+ (IYZDC07) key and I would like to swap the internal circuit with a new key I bought online to save the $200+ dealer cost of a new key. Based on the picture below, it seems that the chrome parts need to be removed and the key will just split in two for the circuit to be removed. Has anyone done that successfully and without causing any major damage?
Thanks!

Man, I think you need to rethink all this. From my limited understanding, the actual key, the metal blade part, within the metal blade is the
MB Chip. That metal blade is the real part of the FOB. I think the swapping of key board's will cause problems. )

That's my two euro's worth of advice...

No, the metal blade is just an old-fashioned key without any intelligence.

I understood the intention was to use the circuit board from the old key and just use the housing from the new key. This works as long as one can fit the circuit board to the new housing.

How did they remove the chrome? I want to replace the key shell too but if it is not possible. At least I can replace the chrome.
