I have a 2009 ML320 Bluetec currently under CPO coverage until September 5th. I have a friend that would like to purchase it (it is listed in the classified here as well). As part of our discussion, I offered to look into purchasing extended CPO coverage for him before he buys it.
I realize that dealers should and do have the option of charging what they want for these, but I was surprised in the differences I was quoted.
Mercedes Benz Georgetown quoted me $2,754.25 for one year/unlimited mileage and $4,019.25 for two years. I wasn't surprised by this pricing given the vehicle.
Mercedes Benz Austin quoted me $1,948 for one year and $2,810.50 for two years!
1. Does the dealer need to physically inspect the vehicle before issuing the new extended CPO warranty?
2. If not, does anyone know of a dealership that may offer more aggressive pricing that I could contact? My VIN is 4JGBB25E59A515629 if needed.
3. Does anyone have actual guidelines to the dealer's costs for these warranties? I've been told the usual markup is over 200%-400%
I am only focused on MB CPO warranties from MB.
Thanks for any help you can give.
