MBz is finally acting up... I think but I hope not.

Just wondering if anyone can trouble-shoot this one, since I have no time nor money to take it to the shop and get it fixed. Maybe a year from now.

My car has been jerking at takeoffs and when slowing down a few days after I got it (As Is/No Warranty).

Immediately, I believed it was the transmission acting up, or the computer not communicating with the transmission correctly, or maybe the intake manifold gasket is coming apart. I was told by the car dealer who sold it to me that it may be a spark plug.

But then today coming home from work, I heard a buzzing sound and I couldn't figure out what it was... until I looked at the tach and speedometer. It was at 4,000RPMs at about 45MPH.

For a moment, I thought that was normal. But then I tried to go faster to keep up with the 55MPH speed limit. Then when I saw the tach and speedometer go up to 4,100 and only a couple MPH faster, I then realized something's not right.

I had wished that nothing serious would ever happen to this car until it was at least paid off. But now the bank expects me to continue paying for full-coverage insurance when I probably can't drive it for a good while.

Anyway, thanks. Whatever you guys say, I hope it won't be horrible news. lol

Sound like transmission went into limp mode. You need to have the car scanned for codes and go from there.
Your car is W211 body and lot of things about it are already covered in W211 section.

Should just be the electro plate going down with those faults.

Well, whether it's a limp-mode problem or an electroplate going out, it sounds like thousands to fix. So I guess it'll sit until the day comes that I can come up with the cash.

That's $545 here (USD). Not too bad. But I won't know what really is wrong for a week or so. Taking it to my mechanic on Monday and then wait a couple days more to hear what he says.
