Windshield Replacement 2013 Leased MB

I have two Leased 2013 Mercedes Benz, one has a problem. I took a rock on the Freeway on the 4th and it has not only "Stared" but has now cracked across the entire window. I called the Dealership and they want about $1200 to replace. I also called a recommended (by a Dealership Salesman) "Windshield Dr." who recommended using a "Pilkington Glass" replacement, comes to my house to do it and even replaces the Mercedes Benz Transparency in the lower right hand corner. He said it's as good as the one from the Dealership. Cost is $500.00 installed. My question is, can I get in trouble when I return the lease in a year and a half, how would they know? I don't want to cheat but I also don't want to spend $1200 bucks if I don't have to. I've done this before on two BMWs and was never a problem. Thanks for your help!!

I thought the comprehensive section of the vehicle's insurance would cover the repair.

This must be the only thing in the UK that is better than what you guys get, on our standard insurance policies we have a fixed price where we pay £50 towards the cost of the glass, any glass.

When you have the screen replaced, do check the function of the auto wiper as they do need to be reset often when changing the front screen

Comp normally would cover glass but I carry a high deductible. I'm not opposed to paying just want to get the best deal.

Some MB models have come with Pilkington glass OEM. For only $500 installed, that's a no-brainer!

I guess there is a wide range of policies in the US for this kind of thing. Like you I pay $200 at the most and they will even have me take it to a dealer.
It does not count against my risk as a an insured owner.

I had Pilkington Glass installed on my driveway for $199 on W210 with rain sensor.
Good glass and with this price no need to even bother with insurance.
As to legal issue here, it is hard to say. I look for the Made in... on the new glass and it is not there. The lease office would have to have expert on stuff to tell things like that, but then maybe they do?
