How much is a replacement Mercedes Benz key fob at the dealer?

Did any of you ever needed to get a new Mercedes Benz key fob? How much did you pay? Where did you get it? How long did it take to get it?

$180 retail. Some dealers will give you discount, some markup.
Ships overnight from Texas.

The standard chrome replacement keys in the UK cost £225.

Picked up a new key fob and a valet key as well. was in no rush so picked it up about 3 days later. $274.00 US at MB dealer in Wilmington, DE. They did of course then have to code it to the car which took only minutes to do. After I saw the price, I figured there was probably a less expensive way but you live & learn.

A 129 does not require coding, just press any button twice and insert in ignition within 4 seconds, one car re set this way as well.

I have never tried with cars older than 2000, to set the keyless go part, you just place both keys in the car, go to the key setting on STAR, just press activate and about 2 mins later its either job done or no keys found. I have never seen a new entry for doing this part of the key.

I forgot the 2000 SL 500s had keyless go as an option.

I am deleting my previous post to avoid any confusion.

Can only tell you a couple of people in the parts Dept. had an open conversation about what to do with the new key fob to "get it set up" for the car. Following a few minutes on the computer, the gentleman came out to my car, pointed the fob at the car & clicked a button or 2 & then got it right into the ignition. If it was a show it looked good to me.
I can tell you the key fob has worked okay since then.

That was likely new key, that was programmed for new space on car computer back in Texas.
The replacement keys require hooking up to SD to delete lost key and reprogram the new one into the place.
