New W140 S600 Owner
I am a new W140 S600 owner. I was lucky enough to find a 1995 with 32,000 original miles & one owner history. The car is pristine and has been babied it's entire life (heated garage, never spent the night outside, etc.). I acquired the car from the estate of a Doctor in Indiana who had unfortunately become unable to use it anymore.
I have been a life-long fan of the W140 as many are. In particular the S600 just sang to me as the end all be all of luxury vehicles that carried immeasurable amounts of class, elegance, amenities, performance, etc. Money being no object I would still prefer the W140 to any newer S class that's been produced. I've driven them all in most configurations including the S65 AMG and even factoring the massive performance difference there's just something about the look/clout of the W140 that I cannot get over. I'm sure you know what I mean.
I feel very lucky to have found this car and plan to use it sparingly for special occasions. Having said that, I do still want to assure it's in absolutely tip top shape at all times even if it's not being used a great deal. Since I drove the car from Indiana back to New York a couple minor issues have surfaced. I am trying to find the best possible shop to handle any current and future needs of the car. I don't ever plan to sell it so I don't mind if the shop is independent rather than paying a premium at a dealer. Moreover, I suspect that there are probably some W140 experts out there that will do a better job than the dealer service anyways.
I have checked the regional service threads and didn't find anything particularly helpful for this specific need. Can someone recommend a W140 specific mechanic in New York City? I am in Manhattan & the Bronx but I would be willing to take the car anywhere in the 5 boroughs and potentially to NJ or CT as well is the shop was that strongly recommended.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide. Happy to be a part of the club.
