Neutral safety switch

how do I replace the neutral safety switch on my 1986 560sel?

Proceed to the W126 forum for more info, but if the W126 is anything like the 107, take out the ashtray, and you'll see the screws that hold down the shifter surround. Remove them and move the surround aft until it comes free of the console, then lift it. Once that's off, you'll see everything under there including the switch in question.

Looks like no W126 owners are coming here?
On my 1987 W124 the safety switch is attached to the transmission.
What is a good thing as those cost about $40 v/s $350 for newer switches that are part of shifter board.

Thanks for the reply. The w107 is different than the w126. I have located the NSS on the car. It is on the left side of the transmission and can only be accessed from under the car.
I have already purchased a new one via Ebay and was wondering if there is an adjustment to be made after installation. Guess Ill find out when I install the new one. Thanks, Jim
