2007 Mercedes-Benz C230 Sport Sedan Fuel Economy Question

I am looking at buying 2007 Mercedes-Benz C230 Sport Sedan 7spd for my wife (She has a VW Jetta right now). The car is mint with the AMG package.

The only thing that worries me is the Fuel Economy Ratings. The 2006 C230 gets way better ratings; as good as the Jetta. But the 2007 C230 is much lower and I can't find the exact reason. Some people are stating that in 2007 the rating system changed but I never noticed any rating differences with other cars 2006 vs 2007. Others are saying that it is tuned differently to be able to run the E85 fuel. I need to know if I will be getting the 2006 fuel mileage or if I'll be getting what is stated for the 2007.

Can someone please help me here. Specifically 2007 C230 owners.

Thanks in Advance!

The system has changed and the ratings between systems are not comparable.
In the past you had ratings at certain speed, or city driving, now you have very complicated test of accelerating, driving, accelerating again ... you got the picture?
That said, EPA usually have new system applied to most of the cars.
I don't think you will complain about C230 economy.
I used to drive 2003 Jetta Tdi and later 2005 E320cdi. At freeway speeds the mpg was the same.
When I was ready to sell Jetta, wife Mercedes got totaled. I offered her Jetta. She took it for 10 minutes to come back with comments starting "No freaking way...."
So beware .. buying wife a Mercedes is one way street.
