2003 SL500 Air Con

I have just had my air con serviced or at least new gas and oil. The red air con light just falshes a few times and then stay on when i try to turn the air con on.

This was not done at a main dealer and was last done by a main dealer 2 years or so ago. The fitter said today that there was no gas or oil left. No warning or fault lights coming up! Any ideas?

If the lamp was on before you had it re charged, the car will have to go on STAR to turn it off and activate the air con again.

I don't think 2003 has a program that require Star for AC reset, but check with your model section.
Than Star will not help when your system is empty.

It does, been there and done it All the cars do once the lamp is on.

No one said that STAR would help on an empty system, but it does once its been recharged.

What do W210s have to do with the issue at hand?

The main difference between the cars is that the constantly on compressor versions need STAR and the older clutch type do not to activate the system once the lamp is on.
