Can I use all water instead of 50/50 coolant?

Im wondering if during the summer months if it would be ok to use all water instead of a 50/50 coolant mix in my 75' 300d?

Antifreeze has chemicals and additives to stop internal corrosion of your head and block. Whilst running water is possible like flyboyike I certainly wouldn't.

Hell No

As Chris said, it includes anti-corrosion elements, particularly important if your engine includes aluminum parts. It also includes a lubricant for your water pump.

Furthermore, you didn't specify what car you are driving. The choice of anti-freeze is important to most Benz. You should use either the Benz coolant purchased at the dealership or ZEREX G-05, a very similar formulation and acceptable substitute.

LOL - I wouldn't have asked this question even if I owned a KIA.

I was just wondering because my car has a very very slow coolant leak and I dont like having antifreeze even in tiny amounts around because of my dog.

I have a 1975 300d. I may buy the low tox prestone formula..

Antifreeze is forbidden at race track, so what the race drivers use is water with some water wetter in it.

Racers also rebuild their engines after every race.
