Post 1999 benz e-class 430

My first post, Happy to be a proud owner of my first benz.

I just bought a 1999 benz 430 e-class

I have two questions that I would love if someone could answer.

When I connect my smartphone to the radio using a tape, the audio system beeps to tell me to close the tape door. The problem is there is no way I can close the door because there is a wire running through the tape to the phone that is necessary for me to connect the phone. Any Ideas on how to fix this problem?

Also I may buy a cd/dvd player does anyone know how many watts the standard bose speakers can handle? I don't want to buy a new player just to blow out those fantastic speakers!

thanks ahead of time for the help

Did you just use the words smartphone and tape in the same sentence?

He did, but he meant tape player and I believe he is talking about the adapter.
I was using one of those when I was playing movies on computer and used car system for audio. Took some persistence but I closed the door over small cable to stop the beep.
MB audio systems are pretty complicated and not easy to add to, but your car is W210 body, so you can check with fellow model owners, or check the audio section.

tell them your car year and model, they will make connector for you with out any wire cut,

just plug and play,
I had an alpine come with ipod, iphone build in connector from them, they even give you the tool to remove an old unit.
and you say you have bose speaker, I think you car came with the amp, so doesn't matter how many watts stereo come

If you'll get yourself out of this general forum and scroll down to the W210 sedan section, you'll find a WEALTH of information free for the clicking--and it's directly applicable to your car. This general forum is kind of a dumping ground for things of general interest, not much use for specific issues regarding specific cars.

Good luck.
