A question of maintenance

I just purchased my first Mercedes Benz; a 2012 SLK350. After purchasing it I learned of the prepaid maintenance program. So I called my local dealership to get info on the cost of both A and B maintenance; as well as the prepaid plan. I'm looking at my B1 maintenance coming up next so they gave me a price of $999 for a plan that includes two B maintenances (20,000 and 40,000 mile) as well as 1 A maintenance (30,000 mile). When I informed the finance person that this was less than a $50 discount vs. paying as I go she told me that it also included the cost of the automatic transmission flush and some other brake maintenance at 40,000 miles.

My service manual does show many cars getting the transmission service at 40,000, but the SLK does not have a transmission service until 70,000 miles. I called another dealership that also wanted to do a transmission flush at 40,000 miles. I then called Mercedes Benz USA and was told to follow the published maintenance schedule, however the dealer can suggest additional services. So I'm back to ground zero.

If I need to perform the transmission flush and whatever brake service (above and beyond the normal brake fluid flush at 40,000 miles) then the prepaid maintenance is a good deal. But if it's performing maintenance just to increase the dealership's profit margin then I'd rather opt out. Any opinions about the 40,000 mile transmission and brake service pushed by the dealership service departments but not listed in the maintenance manual?

Thanks in advance.

MBUSA is covering their own liability. Do the trans at 40k miles regardless of whether or not you have a prepaid plan.
