New, for sale, make you cry!-image.jpg

North Oregon coast. This image was loaned to me with permission by https://www.facebook.com/linda.fento...ref=ts&fref=ts

Linda told me this was a brand new rental car, the "driver" got it stuck in the soft sand. This is a long walk to anywhere. They left the car with key in it, and called the rental agency 100 miles away.....no one reacted fast enough.....

The car spent the night here, and was covered by high tide, the fine sand and rough North Pacific swells must have done a complete job on this....what a trip.....for sale, cheap!

For sale where it is, how it is?
I would like to learn if insurance will cover that, or the rental co will go after the driver?

Sorry, I guess I was attempting to be funny about the "for sale" part. I have no idea what happened to this unit.

Knowing what i think I know about the wiring and electronics, and the havoc salt water and sand can play on steel, I did not imagine anyone wanting to get this rig.

I know this happened to a guy with a jeep, they came in hosed it off/out, and drove to Portland for a quick trade-in…..

Salt water immersion will kill just about any car - with Mercedes' reliance on electronic controls the problem is only compounded. Definitely a total loss for the insurance company with some hard parts still salvagable if anyone has the time and the inclination.

This happens from time to time. The Kia pictured was brand new - destroyed within a month by stupidity.

IMHO that can happen only to people who have more cash than brain.
I have seen Mexicans driving older RWD cars all over the sandy beach and even they could get occasionally stuck, they knew how to dig the car out.
Here you have big tires with sophisticated AWD and the guys had no skills to use them.
So if you slept on driving classes, why do you even take a car off paved road?
