European Delivery Early April
I've had a deposit in on my EDP CLA45 AMG since mid October. When I ordered it, I only knew for certain I'd be in Hamburg for an event April 11th. To allow for all eventualities, the EDP completion date was March 28th. My flight is booked for April 2 to Geneva--to meet with my brother and a friend for some skiing/snowboarding/speedflying in Argentiere -- Chamonix, France. Then fly to Stuttgart, get the car, tour, arrive in Hamburg for event the 11th, dropping car off in Hamburg, depart after.
My dealer is a mess. In February, started calling them to finalize everything. "Sure, sure, no problem...we're very busy today, I'll call you at X time." (No call). More messages, then, more promises. I started to get worried, I found Herbert Haemmer online.
Wow! He had his s--- together! He was in disbelief. -- He lives on the other side of the country from me -- but to make a long story short, he was so convinced that my dealer hadn't in fact even put in for my car, that he on his own arranged me to get one through him. (Again, I was waiting on promises from my dealer). When I got ahold of my salesman, I said, please cancel my order, I want to go another route. That's when he put me through to the sales manager. THEN, it turns out it was ordered--AND BUILT. ...
However, to make a longer story shorter, while I went to the dealer March 1 to finalize all paperwork (passport in hand). Because of my trade-in, which they couldn't figure out how to do without me leaving my car there that day, they told me they'd have an answer on Monday and we'd e-mail/fax/fed-ex to get it done. Oh, I also "lost" the $2000 incentive for AMA membership; lost the $2000 off MSRP I'd previously discussed with salesman--that Saturday.
That was 2 weeks ago. They've since quoted me 2.39% financing (my credit score is 810); to which I agreed. Paperwork was to be fed-exed to me arriving yesterday. (Didn't). Called sales manager Saturday--he said he'd send it out to arrive today. I'm waiting. (Two hour delay due to weather today...otherwise I'd be at work). Has anyone encountered this? -- Oh, on Friday, the original salesman calls and says, "How were you going to pay for this?" (He'd sent me the rate earlier that week!!).
