R350 2007 front windshield

hi all,
my front windshield has developed two big cracks at lower bottom right side. I want to go through my insurance and it seems they only cover for aftermarket parts. I wanted to know if aftermarket glass have any issues such as rain sensor issues and or increased outside noise.

thanks.

I had to replace my windshield last summer. My w209 is getting old so I saved $100 with an aftermarket. I was offered a MB windshield and an aftermarket, both made by Sekurit. The aftermarket looks identical to the MB windshield besides the MB logo and it works perfectly with the rain sensor and no extra noise.

My take on this is it all depends on which aftermarket windshield and the expertise level of the technician.

My windshield guy has been doing replacement windshield for more than 30 years. This was the 3rd windshield he replaced for me and it's perfect every time. It took him all 40 minutes to do the job. After the job, he asked me to leave the car under the sun for an hour before driving. He did tell me it's important to use MB sealant; he used 2 tubes.

BTW. My local dealership quoted me 3 hours to do the job.
