abs & esp light on ???
We are first time Mercedes owners and picked up this used vehicle at a dealer as is but did not count on this problem. We drove it home over 700 miles with the abs and esp inoperable along with the cruise inoperable warnings on constant WITH NO APPARENT PROBLEMS other than I could not use cruise.
When we got home I went over it and found it to need front brake pads. The dealer did replace one front wheel speed sensor and I inspected and cleaned the apposing one. Which caused the vehicle to brake on it's own. I went ahead and replaced both front sensors and that problem left but abs and esp light is still on. I did purchase the latest esp module located under the passenger front floor board and replaced it. Replaced both batteries, (keeping system powered by a third battery) old ones had no installation date??? Okay, still have abs and esp light on.
Now are these like other makes that need to be driven 10 to 25 miles to clear the computer or should I be looking at something else such as replacing the rear abs sensors too (I have them on hand already) or a relay in the fuse box or the abs pump itself. Is there a way to test the abs pump? It's not the brake light switch since this is integrated into the abs/esp system on an 07.
I wonder if my local garage would have a diagnostic tool that can receive more codes than my simple one. I have searched the web for info but an 07 ML320 made some changes and seem to never come up so earlier model info is useless. Took forever to locate the esp module and thanks to Ex-Fed, solved that mystery! INSIGHT to this problem is welcomed for an 07 or newer that is! (06's and 07's had some major changes)
