c240 transmission stumper

I have a 2003 C240 wagon rwd. I've read a lot of posts on here about transmission problems particularly with it going into "limp mode". Well thats the problem I am having. when i first turn on the car its in 1st gear and will shift up to 2nd but stays there, if i get on the freeway, or up to speed i can shift in to neutral then back to drive and it's now in 5th (or whatever the highest gear is) and it drives beautifully. when i slow it will down shift to 2nd and stick there again. also the paddle shift does not work. I took it to a trusted mechanic, 3 actually who all said - needs a tranny. So I found a tested used one and had it installed but the problem is the exact same. After reading all the threads on here I then put in a new trans control module and had it programmed at the dealership. they diag from the mb dealership after the trans was installed was that is was the tcu. still same problem. oh and yes I also did the conductor plate, still same problem. and just to spend a little more on it i put in yet another trans. and guess what, same problem. 2 mercedes dealerships now and they are all completely stumped. SO if ANYone has any ideas it would be very greatly appreciated. I do have the diag sheets that they gave me with the codes, I dont know how to read them really well but there is a code - P2502, the gear is implausible or transmission is slipping. Oh also it has a new battery in it.
