You usually have had a service at a dealer before they send you coupons. I never bought a vehicle from Crown in Birmingham and never received a coupon from them until I took it in while I was there to disable the microphone behind my rearview mirror. Ever since that visit, they've sent me coupons.
Most coupons are geared just to get you in there so they can do an 'inspection' and recommend repairs to you. They tried to squeeze me for a brake job I had just done along with new rotors to boot, new serp belt and hoses I had just replaced, spark plugs I had just installed and a 'leaking' rear oil seal that has never leaked one drop since I've owned it and 5 years later, still isn't leaking. Total cost of recommended repairs? $5900! And I'm still running those same rotors!
I watched a dealer purse rape a woman that had a 300E they said needed $3200 worth of repairs and she believed them. She even told me how appreciative she was they were looking out for her well being since she was fixing to take a trip up north and needed her car in good mechanical condition. I just shook my head and kept my mouth shut. i knew she'd been had when she began to list the things wrong with it.
I generally have no use for dealer service since they try to get you to spend money on repairs you don't need.
