Key Fob Won't Turn
Iím new to the site and new to the world of Mercs so firstly a big hello!
Right I picked up my new car yesterday, a 2007 A160 CDI and got it home no problem. I then had to pop to the shops, however this time I tried using the other key to start the carÖÖnothing. It doesnít recognise the other key or at least it wonít accept the key and by that it doesnít allow you to turn the key and the steering lock does not disengage.
Now, the odd thing is that the key will lower and raise the windows if the IR sender is pointed at the receiver on the door which to me means that the IR sender is working. I took the circuit board out of the key and the onboard coil looks fine, is soldered fine and visually there are no breaks, cracks etc. What I did notice however is that there appears to be two transmitters at the end of the nose, not just one as I expected so I donít know if the door/window IR uses a separate transmitter to the main ignition IR sender? This may explain why the window roll down function worked.
Iíve searched all the forums and posts for this issue but havenít found anything identical to this issue. I have seen the posts about re-synching but I donít think this is the issue and whichever way, I canít turn it to position 2 in order to sync it!
Iíve tried swapping the batteries over from the working key to the faulty one with no difference. Both keys will lock/unlock the car and both will roll down the windows when using the door IR.
Cheers in advance
