During my research on plug wires, I read that although MB wires are made by Bosch, the OE wires (MB branded wires from MB dealership) are superior than the OEM wires (Bosch wires from auto stores like Autohausaz).

^That may be true, I'm not sure, but I do know that the connecters are the same, so the only possible difference is the bulk wire they cut to make the wire sets. Pretty silly thing to skimp on, wouldn't you think?

Bosch has since caught up; their wires are good now, but until about 10 years or so ago, Beru wire sets were preferred. Still are to me.

The one thing Bosch does that MB doesn't do is warranty the wires for life. MB only warrantees their parts for one year. Hats off to Bosch for that. Of course this only helps someone who has spare wires hanging around while waiting for disposition on a warranty claim, but it is what it is.

A couple of years ago Bosch was licensing rebuilt starters and alternators in my area. They were sold by PEP Boys. I needed an alternator and PEP Boys had two to choose from. One for $95 with a one year warranty and one for $150 with a lifetime warranty. Best $150 I ever spent. It failed three years later and again a few years after that. I'm sure they knew that at least one of their customers would hang on to their car for eternity like me I'm officially joined at the hip (alternator) with Bosch for life LOL

Warranties are often sale pitch.
About 30 years ago some supplies were selling batteries with lifetime warranty. At that time batteries did last up to 5 years, but not too many owners kept the cars for more than 4-6, so with second battery the car often landed on junk yard, or at least changed hands and the warranty excluded new owners.
Still my friend got 4 batteries for his classic.
