Thumbs down GLK350 (2010) A2DP Bluetooth fiasco

I have a 2010 GLK350 with the UMI factory option, and the Bluetooth capability. I was having trouble getting a consistent UMI connection to allow streaming from my iPhone 5. It would often work, but many times would not connect, or would go through a minute or two of "stuttering" before it connected. I took it to the local Mercedes dealer (Las Vegas Mercedes) in Las Vegas to have it fixed. After THREE weeks they called and said they have "fixed" it. They replaced it with a "new" module that now requires a hard connection between the audio source and a Mercedes unit in the glovebox. In other words, it doesn't support Bluetooth for the UMI connection at all! They said it will still work for telephony via Bluetooth. What a mess. I guess I will look at some aftermarket unit that connects to the Mercedes box via hard wired connection and them to the iPhone via Bluetooth using the aftermarket box. I can't believe that they made the "fix" via taking away was at least supposed to work from the factory for A2DP Bluetooth connection for audio streaming. I told them that the new Mercedes unit connect via Bluetooth for audio streaming just fine. They said "yeah".

Was this repair under warranty? It does not sound like a real repair.
