29 Total Cars
That is a quite a variety. I like it.
1981 For Escort FS2000 (RWD) UK car. (My first car over 30 years ago. Was living in the UK and learned to drive there.) –Sold
1970 Datsun 240z (incredible for its time)–Sold
1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass (Was back in the US and needed a car. It was convenient and that is the only nice thing I can say about it.) –Sold
1976 Triumph TR7 (great fun when it ran)–Sold
1979 Mustang 5.0 (First year of the Fox body style) The first car of mine that my brother totalled.
1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302R(one of the few that was sold to the public for SCCA homolagation into the Trans-Am series.) You guessed it. I get into the Air Force and my brother wadded up this car.
1983 Audi 4000 4E (This one stayed in the family for 20 years and was sold at 293k miles) –Sold
1983 Alfa Romeo GTV 6 (Another awesome driver when it ran) –Sold
1986 VW Jetta GLi (Bought for a Winter car and drive it everywhere for years) –Sold to nepwew.
1987 Honda CRX Si (A wedding gift for my wife who learned to drive stick with it. Had a blowout with Honda over warranty and rolled into a VW dealership to trade it)
1986 VW Scirocco 16V (Loved my Jetta so much I wanted even more VW sport feel) Wrecked and parted out. My brother did not wreck this one. A very nice lady hit it at 50 mph while it was parked.
1989 Ford Probe GT (Leased from a friend who took over his father's Ford dealership) Returned after lease.
1993 Ford Probe GT (Loved the Turbo 1989 and was very impressed the 2.5 V6 in the updated Probe) Returned after lease.
1992 VW GTi 2.0 16v(Monster performance from such a an efficient car. Got to the SCCA Solo nationals in this car. I still have it with a 13:1 race engine that is used for rally and ice racing.)
1990 Mercedes 300e (Gave it to my father and it is still in the family. My brother drives now after writing off his Honda Odyssey. An all around bulletproof car) He has not wrecked this car.
1991 VW GTi 8v (It was too good a deal to pass up. Traded for next car on list.) –Sold
1975 BMW 2002 Tii (Had the full Alpina package. My brother wrecked it beyond any salvation. Still miss the car.)
1996 Ford SVT Mustang Mystic Cobra (Steeda race prepped. Still own it and take it to open track days.)
1997 Audi S4 (Needed a practical and safe car. 1st kid was on the way and my wife loved the S4 as did I.)–Sold
1998 Mercedes Benz ML320 (Totalled when a Lincoln Town car t-boned me in the drivers door at 45 MPH. That ML sacrificed itself for my safety. I was not hurt. 3 people in the Lincoln went to the hospital.)
1995 BMW 540i (Already had an ML430 on order when the ML320 was wrecked. Got the 540i for a steal and drove it for 4 months until the ML430 was delivered.)–Sold
1999 Mercedes Benz ML430 (Still is a daily driver mostly for my wife and will become my daughters in a few months.)
2000 Integra Type-R (Purchased from Peter Cunningham the owner of Real Time Racing. This car was wild, but always had to be above 6000 rpm to really be impressive. Peter is a good friend and he never built this one for racing in the World Challenge series)–Sold
2003 Audi RS6 (A freaky monster of a machine. Never even thought to buy one. We were at an estate sale looking for furniture. The car was not on the sale list. I found out it was for sale and got it for 50% of the loan value. Drove it for about 8 months and sold it for the profit to improve the horse barn. I knew it would cost way too much to keep it on the road for any length of time out of warranty.) –Sold
1987 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel (Farm work truck. It can't be killed. I have tried. Still own this one.)
1974 VW Beetle (Loan collateral that I claimed after waiting 18 months for for my money back. Still have it.)
2005 Mercedes E500 4matic Wagon. (daily driver mostly for me. Found it in South Carolina and got an amazing deal on it. I fell in love with it after I bought it. The car still impresses me today. Hope to get a few more years out of it.)
1987 VW Scirocco 16v (it fell into my lap for $500 and is rust free. Still deciding what to do with it)
Actively looking for an W211 E63 AMG wagon so that my wife will take over the E500 wagon when we give the ML 430 to my oldest daughter. At that point I will be selling the SVT Mustang Cobra, the 1987 VW and the 1974 Super Beetle. All of them for a profit thank god.
Although the model years of the cars is not in chronological order that is the order they were purchased/leased in.
I really want to keep some of them, but with private university tuition around the corner I need to keep pumping up the college fund.
If it is a unique car or has varying virtues I will talk for hours about cars. I am getting older and realize some of the waste in a few of the cars that entered and exited my life. My wife has been amazingly understanding about my passion. I support her equine hobby 100%
I don't have a boat, a plane or a hovercraft. It has been cars for me with a few sport bikes in the mix. I figure if we have to drive cars at least let them be fun, interesting and most of all safe.
