stuck in park ??

hello forum memebers.i have a problem as my clk 270cdi auto 55 plate is stuck in park.i parked up & 2 hours later i went to set off&went to put it into drive & it would not slide into drive or any where else.i had been working on the car earlier in the day ,taking off the air filter box to clean up the area as i had an oil leak so i steam cleaned that area around the cat &turbo but it ran perfect after that & i did 2 trips after that with no problems,i also changed a few bulbs on the rear lights as i had a light fault showing up on the dash.i did pull out all of the fuses one by one in all of the 3 fuse boxes to check to see if the rear light problem was a fuse but it wasnt. also i had a warning light on the dash about the ESP not working could this be anything to do with the problem?

Why did you do that? You might have caused a new problem. Don't you have a fuse chart? FYI, there are no fuses for the external lights.

Also, it's probably better for you to post any CLK problems to the W209 forum.

stuck in park now sorted !

sorted the problem out today.it was a blown fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet ,fuse number 60 i think it was.it was really strange as i had taken all the fuses out trying to solve a rear light issue about 3 hours before so i never expected it to be a fuse when they were all ok just a few hours before

[QUOTE=alf1956;6815137].....sorted the problem out today.it was a blown fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet ,fuse number 60 i think it was.

If it was fuse f60, that is a 40A fuse protecting the ESP/BAS control module (N47/5). High power fuses should not just 'blow' - there will be a reason for this, as Eric suggests above, and your replacement might not last long.

In fact, fuses should never blow unless there is a fault on the line.
