They do know a lot of people and hopefully can give you a few names to call.
Thanks for the lead noodles. I'll give them a call today. I spoke with my buddy that works for mercedes. He asked one of the merc parts/repair guys about Aftermarket universal cats for me. The guy claimed he installed a few on the side and knows of a couple that threw a code within two months. He stated the cats with issues were always the primary. He said the trouble came from O2 sensor placement. He also mentioned problems with leaks when welding at the bend near the top flange. Not sure if the guy is blowing smoke and wants every customer to go OEM but then again, he doesn't know me and I'm not a customer so why lie? I've heard of people replacing the rear cats with no issues, but I can't find a write up for the primary cats on the S430. Man I'm really stuck right now. Do I go universal and take the chance or wait and go direct fit when my car savings builds back up. Just need to know there are multiple people who went universal with the primaries with no problems.
